Job Description: 

General Summary

Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing electrical problems under close supervision of senior electricians.

Principle Duties and Accountabilities

  • Ability to troubleshoot all electrical low voltage switchgear, electric motors, AC and DC control circuits.
  • Understanding basic functionality of Variable frequency drives.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic ladder diagrams.
  • Work directly with the electrical supervisor to complete assigned work orders and maintain the work order system to keep it up to date.
  • Responsible for housekeeping of electric shop and other assigned areas.
  • Perform electrical construction tasks such as pipe bending and treading, cable runs and basic installations compliant with NEC.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and or adjustments.
  • Responsible for completing area audits.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a safe and clean condition at all times.
  • Responsible to abide by and support all company and plant safety policies, rules, and procedures as well as M.S.H.A. regulations.

Educational Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of practical working experience in electrical systems within industrial electrical construction or industrial manufacturing.
  • Must have Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification or license.
  • Must be proficient using test instruments, meters, power tools and hand tools. 
  • Experience troubleshooting VFDs, DC drives PLC systems desired.
  • Must have own hand tools and be able to read blueprints.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using appropriate interpersonal skills and to ask questions.
  • Must possess good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.
